Sights, events & active holidays in Albes near Bressanone

Life around Mittermoar is never a bore

Bressanone, nestled in a wide valley basin, is just a few kilometres away by city bus or bike. History here is all around you. The main town of the Valle Isarco valley is one of the oldest cities in the Alpine region and is very rich in historical places and buildings. The Piazza Duomo in front of the cathedral and its surroundings, including the old prince-bishop’s palace, provide the ecclesiastical setting for your holiday. Around this artistically historically church district, a maze of branching alleyways (above all the Große and Kleine Lauben) offers the perfect location for an afternoon of shopping, including a refreshing aperitif in one of the numerous cafés and bars. And to round off the day, an delicious glass of wine in one of the town’s first-class wine bars. As an art historian and shopping enthusiast, host Edith* is essentially the ideal advisor and will inspire you with numerous insider tips.

*Just to note, if you are really interested, you can certainly organise a short city tour with Edith.

Albeins near Brixen

See Albes and … enjoy the peace and quiet

Away from the hustle and bustle and yet full of life. That is how we would describe our village of Albes. As soon as you enter the small village you can see: it is full of a charm of its own! Old walls with picturesque ensembles of buildings provide plenty of material for village walks. 700 Albes residents, 2 churches, 2 restaurants, 1 shop, thousands of apple trees and plenty of peace and quiet.

Would you rather enjoy a delicious pizza or some imaginatively prepared South Tyrolean delicacies? Everything is possible in Albes! And you will find everything you need for your holiday at our apartments in our village shop.

Must-Sees
  • Cathedral & Square: Bressanone cathedral is a baroque jewel. You can soak in the history in the huge cathedral, on the square in front of it and in the entire cathedral district.
  • The uniqueness of the cloister in Bressanone cannot be surpassed. Each arcade tells its own story. Wonderfully relaxing away from the hustle and bustle of the town.
  • Hofburg: also to be found in the cathedral district of Bressanone, it houses the valuable diocesan museum and an extensive nativity scene exhibition.
  • Abbazia di Novacella: just a few kilometres from Bressanone. A place with rich history, a wonderful church, a unique library and… excellent wine.
  • Plose: Bressanone´s local mountain. Skiing in winter and hiking in summer. And best of all: as our guests, you can use the BrixenCard to get to the top with the new gondola for free.
  • Funes Valley: perhaps the most pristine and beautiful valley in the Valle Isarco with the high alpine pastures and the Geisler peaks. And the valley where Reinhold Messner spent his childhood.
  • Klausen: The artist town to the south of us impresses with its picturesque streets and its location at the foot of Säben Abbey, which towers high above the town like a castle in the clouds.
  • Alpe di Siusi, Villandro Alp: these beautiful high alpine pastures are renowned for their panoramas and the almost endless expanse they offer. Certainly worth a visit.
  • Lago Rodella: more suitable for hiking fans, as it can only be reached on foot. However, you will be rewarded with stunning views of the Dolomites as well as delicacies from the refuge of the same name.
